The Crucible Cast

Abdul- Saboor Syed (Marshal Herrick)
I am Marshal Herrick. I have known John Proctor all of my life. I know he is innocent, but i have to arrest him and his wife. I really don't want to arrest them, but it is my job.
Annika McTamaney (Elizabeth Proctor)
Ava Sharahy (Betty Parris)
Ava Sharahy is very excited to play as Betty in The Crucible, which is not only her first speaking role, but also embodies two of the things she’s best at: sleeping and freaking out. She guesses that made the role very… BeWITCHing for her.
Benjamin Leit (Deputy Govenor Danforth)
Ben Leit sincerely wishes he could say that he is thrilled to be cast as Danforth in his final fall drama, but - he is not. Way too many lines. In fact, he’s never been happy with any of his parts! Not one of them! Freshman Year, he literally stood on stage for two hours, not saying a word. Sophomore year, he was either Sebastian or Antonio, he can’t remember which. Last year, he was a melodramatic cop, a part that he certainly didn’t do well in - and this year? Lot of lines, not even the lead.
Claire Dempsey (Abigail Williams)
Claire Dempsey (Abigail Williams) is so excited to be playing the role that she low-key wanted sophomore year but was so stupendously overshadowed by Greg Gavenda in english class that she decided to let it go. Her past credits include ensemble roles in Urinetown and Mary poppins, Marty (Grease), Mdme Dilly (On The Town), and she has participated in the fall drama for the past two years. Claire is hoping to go to school for musical theatre and is grateful for all of the opportunities she’s had i
Harry Echtman (John Proctor)
Dylan Gawron (Ezekial Cheever)
Dylan Gawron will be making his debut tonight as Ezekiel "Eazy Cheez" Cheever. He enjoys hanging out with friends, long walks on the beach, and arresting the innocent for interrogation. He would like to thank his parents for being here tonight and hopes you enjoy the show.
Elizabeth Hawk (Tituba)
Elizabeth Hawk (Tituba and Props) Had a lot of fun summoning the devil.  She has also dedicated a lot of time to this show, including but not limited to two hours hand sewing Mary Warrens poppet. Previous roles include but are not limited to: Woman in Audience, Middletown and Props Master Flash, Twelfth Night.
Gregory Gavenda (Samuel Parris)
Greg Gavenda is taking on his first role that could be considered “normal” in the world of the play as Reverend Parris in The Crucible. After playing a gibberish-speaking Doctor in The Government Inspector, a Priest who looked more like a rabbi in Twelfth Night, and Greg the astronaut in Middletown, he is playing a priest whose daughter and niece are probably conspiring with Satan. Completely normal, right?
Henry Chandonnet (Judge Hathorne)
Henry Chandonnet is looking forward to playing Judge Hathorne in The Crucible. His previous shows have included Sweet Charity (Featured Dancer), On The Town (New Sailor), The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Mitch Mahoney), Mame (Featured Dancer) and many more. Henry spent one summer training at the Papermill Playhouse August Intensive. He would like to thank Mrs. Shapiro Cooper, Mr. Yow, his fellow cast mates, and anyone else who contributed to this wonderful production.
Justin Gawron (Francis Nurse)
Justin Gawron is debuting as Francis Nurse, a lovable old man with a possibly bewitched wife. He would like to thank his parents and brother for helping him along the way and of course his script for helping him learn his lines.
Kianni Keyes (Reverend John Hale)
Kianni Keys is thrilled to be involved in her third play at Newark Academy.  She was elated to play Reverend Hale, a character just as equally as interested in sticking his nose in business three towns away then pointing at picture books just to realize he didn't belong as she is.  To prepare for her role as a male reverend, Kianni took the tremendous lengths of looking in the mirror, making a few noises, then concluding that she kind of really didn't need to do anything.  Oh, but she did sign
Madeleine Levinsohn (Mary Warren)
Madeleine Levinsohn (Mary Warren) is thrilled to be a part of this year’s fall drama!  She is a member of the Fire Island Shakespeare Players, studies dance at the New Jersey School of Ballet, and works on voice both inside and outside of school.  Some of her favorite, most recent credits include “Romeo and Juliet” (Juliet), “West Side Story” (Pauline), “Henry IV” (Henry V), “Mary Poppins” (featured dancer), and “On the Town” (Flossie’s Friend), which was produced here at NA.  Madeleine also ma
Margery Leit (Ann Putnam)
Margery Leit is very excited to be playing a role with her redhead counterpart. Playing the role of Ann Putnam, she is very excited to be taking a role in the fall drama in which she is onstage for the first time. She has worked many years in the theater department throughout middle school and high school, and cannot wait to get onstage with her brother for the third time in their acting careers. Don’t worry, they aren’t in any of the same scenes.
Meghan Feldman (Mercy Lewis)
Playing the role of Mercy Lewis, Meghan Feldman is very excited to be a part of her first Newark Academy performance. Her anxiety for her first performance is eased by the fact that her first appearance involves her undressing on stage. She cannot wait to make her debut as what has been described as a “fat servant,” and would like to thank her family for coming and supporting her, despite the demands of the role.
Radhika Mohan (Rebecca Nurse)
This is my first time performing in an NA Fall drama and i'm very excited to display the me that I don't think I get to show very often: the pious grandmother. Just because I'm an NA student and I'm into acting doesn't mean I can't be a respected member of the church, or the proud mother of eleven children and the even prouder grandmother of 26 children.
Tyler Mudge (Thomas Putnam)
Tyler’s one objective for the play is to get the most boos, so that way all the cheers have more meaning and seem more genuine. So really let loose on him, no cheers, just jeers, unless the cheers are deserved, but above all focus on the jeers. in order to learn more about the role of Thomas Putnam Tyler lived in the the New England wilderness for 6 months with a wife and 2 children. Tyler was the only one to make it once the search and rescue team found him.
