Arly Rose Rubens (She/Her) (Romeo)
Arly Rubens (Romeo) is a dramaturg and actor. She was last seen at Old Library Theatre in Julius Caesar (Portia), and other recent performance credits include In the Next Room, or the Vibrator Play (Mrs. Daldry), Love's Labour's Lost (Jacquenetta), Marisol (Woman with Furs), The Comedy of Errors (Angelo), and Romeo and Juliet (Mercutio). Arly has served as a Dramaturgy and Education Intern with the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, a Literary Intern with Premiere Stages, and a Teaching Assistant for courses in script analysis and advanced classical acting at Kean University, where she recently graduated with a dual degree in Theatre and English Literature. Anne Bobis (She/Her) (Juliet)
Anne Bobis (Juliet) is absolutely grateful and thrilled to be doing her first show at Old Library Theatre. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Teaching English. Her recent credits include: Much Ado About Nothing (Margaret), The Crucible (Mary Warren), and The Heiress (Maria).
Scott Guzzo (He/Him) (Lord Capulet)
Scott Guzzo (Lord Capulet) was last seen in the flesh at Nutley Little Theater as Don John and DJ Peterson in I'm Getting Murdered In The Morning & Much Ado About Nothing (Respectively). Since then he has been active in John L. Peacock's Play Readings With Friends and Live From The Living Room with Jess Katz. Never could he have imagined he would be making his OLT debut in a year albeit virtually and with such a stellar handful of actresses. Favorite Non-Shakespeare shows include Plaza Suite(Waiter, Borden), Murphy's Law; Group Therapy Gone Wild(Moe), The Elephant Man(Snork), George Washington Slept Here (Steve), Freex (A'Nilo Dubrowski), Grease (Sonny), Haze (Tommy), The Laramie Project (Andy Paris et al), Judgement at Nuremberg (Rudolph Peterson), Ensemble roles in Godspell and Hair, and many more. He extends heartfelt gratitude to family, friends, and everyone in and around the zoom stage.
Sheleah Harris (She/Her) (Lady Capulet)
Sheleah Harris (Lady Capulet) hails from Newark, NJ and graduated from The University of Pittsburgh with a dual BA in Theater Arts and Communications. With much of her background in stage, she has performed with various theater groups across Pittsburgh, New York and New Jersey. Previous credits include Romeo and Juliet, Lysistrata, Scapin, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide / When the Rainbow Is Enuf, Intimate Apparel, and As You Like It. Sheleah is proud to have made her directorial debut with the stage play Conscious in 2018. She was a 2019 Broadwayworld "Best Actress in a Play" nominee for her work as Mayme in Intimate Apparel. She is an ACE (Artist Creating Excellence) member of the New Jersey Creative Arts Collaborative and serves as the organization's Social Media Manager.
Serena Marie Williams (She/Her) (Nurse, First Watchman)
RJ21 marks Serena's second show with OLT (and the other one was Shakespeare, too!). She is so grateful to be doing theatre again even if it is virtual. Some past credits include Conscious (another virtual production), War of the Worlds, Death of a Salesman, Julius Caesar, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, GHOST, Legally Blonde, Black Nativity, A Christmas Carol, The Secret Garden, Billy Elliot, as well as various film, TV, and multimedia projects. She would like to send a BIG “thank you” to her family and friends for always supporting her!
Rashad A. Davis (He/Him) (Friar Lawrence)
Rashad A. Davis (Friar Lawrence) is a performer with over twenty years of stage acting experience. His previous productions have included, The Colored Museum, Lysistrata, One Hour to Live, Matilda and Parade, for which he won an Old Library Theatre Best Featured Actor Award. Rashad’s more noteworthy roles have included, Nick Sakarian-Baby, the Musical, Grant Wiggins-A Lesson Before Dying, Marc Antony-Julius Caesar, Noah “Horse” Simmons-The Full Monty and Othello-Othello.
Sarah Medcalf (They/Them) (Mercutio, Gregory, Third Watchman)
Sarah Medcalf (Mercutio) is excited to return for their second Old Library Theater production of Shakespeare's timeless plays. Working remotely with the cast and crew has brought such camaraderie and joy. Also, the flexing of new skills as we learn and create what art looks like during this age of separation. Past credits include gems such as FreeTo Be...You and Me (PGL), Julius Caesar (OLT), Godspell (TLC), and Harvey (BCP).
Lexy Lefkovits (She/Her) (Tybalt)
Lexy Lefkovits (Tybalt) began acting in earnest in 2016 and remains hooked. Although some may say her greatest role is Middle School Teacher, she has appeared in such roles as Oda Mae Brown in Ghost, Gary Coleman in Avenue Q, Juror #4 in Twelve Angry Women, Mrs. Phelps in Matilda, and Catherine in OLT’s production of The Best Man. Lexy is excited to reunite with many members of OLT’s production of Julius Caesar to bring you Romeo & Juliet 1921 virtually. She would like to thank her family, especially her husband and #NewSchu, for their support.
Miriam Messer (She/Her) (Benvolio, 2nd Watchman)
This is Miriam’s fourth time on the OLT stage, having performed in “Side Show” "Bat Boy", "Sweet Charity" and most recently "Julius Caesar." She's proud to have been featured as a fire breather on The Greatest Showman, and is delighted to have worked featured background roles on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Americans, and The Good Cop and other productions. Miriam has been a Fire Arts entertainer and has been teaching and servicing fire performance safety tech for performers and venues in the NNJ/NYC area since 2008. She’s also proud to have been the principal fire conclave coordinator at Wickerman Burn festival for 8 years, and is excited to manage fire conclaves and performances for the new Summerisle Burn festival 2019.
Ryan Green (He/Him) (Paris, Sampson, Peter)
Ryan Green (Paris, Peter, Sampson) is currently a junior theatre major at Temple University in Philadelphia and beyond honored to be returning to OLT in this timeless story! He last appeared as Ham in Children of Eden. Aside from OLT, some past roles include Officer Barrel in Urinetown, Chaim Kaufman in Letters to Sala, Kevin Rosario in In The Heights, and Wally Womper in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Ryan thanks his friends and family for always having his back but gives special thanks to Heather Ferreira for making his first ever Shakespeare piece such a blast to perform in. Break legs!!!!
Emily Tonn (She/Her) ("Lord" Montague, Servingman)
Emily Tonn (Madam Montague/Servant) is thrilled to be making her OLT debut in Romeo and Juliet 1921. She has been dormant for the past year while theaters have been closed. She previously appeared as Doctor Pinch in Comedy of Errors (Trilogy Rep), Francisca/Boatswain in The Tempest (Circle Players), and George Seacole in Much Ado About Nothing (Nutley Little Theatre). She has also designed costumes for Circle Players’ productions of Dangerous Liaisons and Explorer’s Club. She would like to thank Heather for all her caring and support this past year.
Jennifer Lynn Mitchell (She/Her) (Abram, Balthasar, Friar John, et al.)
Jennifer Lynn Mitchell (Ensemble) is excited to join OLT for Romeo and Juliet 1921, with a new virtual theater experience! Past credits include Much Ado About Nothing with Nutley Little Theater, Dracula with Rhino Theater, and Les Mis with Rhino Theater. She received her BFA in acting from University of the Arts in Philadelphia, and can't wait to see everyone in person and on stage!
Michael V. Gatto (He/Him) (Prince, Apothecary)
Michael Gatto (Prince, Apothecary) has been a lover of community theater since high school. Apart from his time on stage in high school and college, he has worked with the Rhino Theater in Pompton Lakes (Uncle Frank, Little Miss Sunshine) and reunited with some old friends in 2017 to stage a production of Gainesville (written by the late Michael Perrotta and performed as a fundraiser for a scholarship in his memory). He is honored and pleased to be part of this historic production, and gives a special shout-out to Heather and Meredith.
