The 40th Annual (Virtual) Nutcracker Performers

Riley Pennington (Clara)
Riley is 14 years old and is an 8th grader at Barboursville Middle School. Her favorite hobbies are baking, spending time with friends and of course dancing! Riley has danced at HDT since she was 3 years old in the spring recitals and the annual Nutcracker Ballet. She has attended numerous summer intensives and master classes, the WV Dance Festival and WV Minifest, and last year performed her first solo in the HDT sprint recital. Riley has always dreamed of performing the role of Clara and is thrilled to have the honor this year. In previous years Riley has danced the roles of Baby Angel, Gingersnap, Mice, Soldier, Party Scene/Children’s March, Soldier Doll, Dragon, Flutes, Flowers and Snow. Riley would like to thank the staff at HDT for making this 40th anniversary of the Nutcracker Ballet a very special one! Nutcracker Dreams really do come true!
Charlotte Edmonds (Sugar Plum Fairy)
Charlotte Edmonds is a seventeen year old senior at Huntington High School. She began dancing at the age of six and has grown an endless passion for the art over the years. She began taking classes at Premiere Dance Studio where she took multiple genres of dance including ballet, lyrical, jazz, tap, hip hop, and baton. She later went on to further her study with ballet by taking classes from Ella Hay at the Art Center School of Dance. Here she has performed full length classical ballets such as, Sleeping Beauty, La Bayadère, Coppélia, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Romeo and Juliet, Paquita, and Cinderella. She later joined Huntington Dance Theatre and has been apart of their production of The Nutcracker for several years. She has performed numerous roles including The Snow Queen, Spanish Chocolate, and more. Charlotte plans on extending her education of dance throughout college as well as studying physical therapy.
Katie Bell (Dew Drop Fairy)
Katie Bell is a 18 year old senior at Huntington high school. She will be performing as dew drop in this upcoming nutcracker. She has been dancing since she was 3 and performed her first nutcracker when was 5 as lullaby. This year she is also Vice President of thespians at Huntington high school. She is planning on majoring in musical theatre in college.
Angela Lin (Snow Queen)
Angela is a junior at Grace Christian School and has been dancing for 11 years. At HDT, Angela is trained in ballet, pointe, contemporary, hip hop, and jazz. At her school, she had the opportunity to be in some musicals such as The Lion King, Annie, and The Wizard of Oz. She is a member of the National Honor Society. Outside of dance and school, you can see her hanging out with friends and watching tv shows. Angela is honored to be dancing as the Snow Queen in this year’s Nutcracker.
Kaitlyn Foreman (Guardian Angel)
I am a senior at Tri-State Stem+M High School and I’m in the National Honors Society. I plan to attend Marshall University where I will get my Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Imaging. My role in the Nutcracker is the Guardian Angel and it is one of my favorite roles in the whole show. My hobbies and favorite things to do are exploring/traveling, reading, spending time with my friends and family, and dancing of course!
