About The 40th Annual (Virtual) Nutcracker

This year has sadly been full of cancellations and disappointments. With regulations regarding indoor crowd size, the performing arts have taken an especially hard hit. At this time of year, countless ballet companies and studios have been forced to cancel their "Nutcrackers:, which are far more than just performances. With its recognizable, festive classical music, and nostalgic images of families, The Nutcracker is generally the only ballet that makes money for companies or studios, enabling them to continue to operate.

At Huntington Dance Theatre, we too have struggled because of COVID-19. However, classes resumed at the studio this summer and rehearsals for The Nutcracker are underway. This year celebrates HDT's 40th anniversary of The Nutcracker production and we are determined to make it happen! Many creative minds have come together, and we are planning to still bring you some Christmas joy.

Huntington Dance Theatre is honored and grateful to those who have supported us through your faithful attendance of The Nutcracker. In this unpredictable and extra challenging year, our 40th year, we hope that you will continue to support our studio and the dancers who so desperately want to put on a show for you.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions on indoor seating, this year's Nutcracker will be recorded and offered to audiences to purchasing via a streaming link and later a DVD to purchase if desired. Everyone at Huntington Dance Theatre has worked extremely hard to make this happen and we are thrilled to be able to say that, yes, the show WILL go on!
