About [RIGHTS PENDING]

We are #theatrecompany, a collective of young artists dedicated to producing honest and exciting new work. We are excited to present Will Eno's Middletown as part of our [RIGHTS PENDING] series, which connects readings of contemporary published works with charitable causes.

It is with incredible generosity that the YMCA of Greater New York/Harlem has donated the use of The Little Theatre to us for this one-night-only reading, in support of The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Established in 1987, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is a voluntary health organization that gives those affected by suicide a nationwide community empowered by research, education, and advocacy to take action against this leading cause of death.

AFSP is dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide by funding scientific research, advocating for public policies in mental health and suicide prevention and supporting survivors of suicide loss and those affected by suicide.

Middletown is an elegiac and whimsical play that explores the strange beauty of life and loneliness. As a friendship emerges between longtime resident John Dodge and new arrival Mary Swanson, the lives of Middletown residents intersect in peculiar and poignant ways in a journey that spans outer-space and points in between.

"Through some miracle, we have been granted the rights to this brilliant play, and have been generously donated the use of The Little Theatre at the Harlem YMCA," says Co-Artistic Director Katie Langham, "There is no better place to present this piece that celebrates and explore the power of community for such an important cause with such an amazing cast. We are incredibly grateful to share this story with the Harlem community."
