About Crimes Square: An Evening of Student-Written Mysteries

Crimes Square is a showcase of four short student-written plays, to be performed in the following order:

"Gambler's Flunk" by Alejandro Hernandez Carranza. A happy couple has purchased a house and is starting to build their life together, but then Maxwell loses his job and they find themselves in dire financial straits, leading to a series of unfortunate decisions, insurmountable debt, and a tragic ending.
"The Judge" by Chloe Troyer. A man named Alex was accused of murder. He went to his ex's house to get his stuff back. He found a dead body behind the couch. They need to go to court to find if Alex is guilty or not. They need evidence to prove their guiltiness. A women named Arianna goes over to the house to find clues from the murder scene for the court hearing. Somebody is trying to get Alex in trouble.
"Coming Out Gone Horribly Wrong" by Andrew Osborn. This script is about Kai, a 16 year old gay high school student. Kai comes out to his dad unintentionally and things take a turn for the worse. Did Kai take his life, or did the father Calvin kill him because he was a "disgrace"? Who is responsible for Kai's death?
"Slick Nick" by Ashton Diendl. Slick Nick is about a wacky detective that sounds and looks like a detective from a movie from the 1950s, and his partner, Sam, which is much more down to earth. A murder has taken place, a man has been killed in his house. His wife came in to tell the detectives. Will they solve the murder? Will the culprit be arrested?

Groveport Madison High School

Groveport Madison High School offers a wide range of extracurricular opportunities to its students, among which is the Cruiser Theatre Company, Thespian troupe 3323. Our troupe normally produces four theatrical productions each school year, and despite these unprecedented pandemic circumstances, we believe that the show must go on(line). We are committed to continuing to practice our art and produce shows throughout the school year.

Our annual play in a day will be replaced by an evening of improv, to occur sometime near Valentine's Day. We have decided to replace our spring musical with spring plays, the first of which will be Hammered: A Thor and Loki Play by Christian Borle. That show will likely perform the final weekend in March. Another spring play, to be determined, may be performed in May.

We are affiliated with the Columbus Association for the Performing Arts Education and Marquee Awards program this year.
