Help us out!
The performing arts all over the world are struggling to survive the COVID-19 pandemic. Please consider how you can help.
Our biggest revenue generator for the Berkley High School drama department is our spring musical. We weren't able to present our spring musical "Grease" for the 19/20 school year as the COVID pandemic and subsequent quarantine took effect just two weeks before we were to open. With numbers on the rise and higher than ever, there is no telling when people will be able to gather in a theater again. The costs of that are incredibly high.
- Ticket sales that fuel most of a theater's budget
- Technology to try and make up for missed opportunities
- Theater personnel without work
- Artistic souls have lost their outlet
- Directors and educators are finding a need to be twice as creative which is twice as much work with so much more at stake.
But most importantly to me ...
- Lost opportunities for our most emotionally invested kids
- Kids to whom the theater has become their safe place are lost
- Kids who have fought to get their families to be on board with choosing the performing arts as a college major/career have had the rug pulled out from under them
- Kids who have looked forward to their senior year play, musical and Senior Showcase feel that they could be and/or are being robbed of their senior year
The Berkley High School Drama Department needs your support. Please consider a donation in whatever amount you can to help support the dreams of our young actors. They are so incredibly worth it.
