16th Annual One Act Play Festival PLAYWRIGHTS

David Beardsley is a playwright from Boston, Massachusetts whose work has been performed throughout the U.S., in Europe, and in Australia. His play, Holy and Unruly, was a 2019 finalist for the Ashland New Plays Festival, a semi-finalist for the 2020 Bay Area Playwrights Festival, and a 2019 winner of the stage-play category in the Moondance International Film Festival. Cursetown was selected for development as part of the Moonbox Productions’ 2021 Boston New Works Project. Tiny Empty Nest was a finalist in Theatre@First’s FirstWorks development program and is currently a semifinalist for Theatre Resources Unlimited’s TRU Voices Reading Series. David is a member of the Playwrights' Collective at New World Theatre (Londonderry, New Hampshire) and Write On! (CentaStage, Boston). Molly Wagner is an NYC based playwright from "Chicago" (St. Charles, IL) who focuses on serio-comic character driven stories with a female protagonist. Her work has been developed with Clamour! Theatre Company, Rover Readings, Amherst College, Wayward Sister's Theatre Ensemble, West of 10th, The Cuckoo's Theatre Project, The Bechdel Group, Naked Angels, The Little Red Theatre Company, Wellesley College Upstage, Flush Ink Productions and Theatre is the Cure. Tim Lehnert lives in Cranston, Rhode Island with his wife, two daughters, and dog (Zeus). His short plays have been performed by the Wilbury Theatre Group, the Artists' Exchange, and as part of the Boston Theatre Marathon. He has published short fiction for adults and young people in magazines and literary journals in the U.S., Canada and Australia, and he is author of the book Rhode Island 101. His bread-and-butter work includes writing petitions for “individuals of extraordinary ability” so that they can obtain green cards. Susan Lumenello writes plays, fiction, and nonfiction. Her plays have been produced or had staged readings at the Calderwood Theatre (Boston Theater Marathon), Provincetown Theatre (MA), Barnstable Comedy Club (MA), and Cotuit Center for the Arts (MA). Her comedy The Sherlock Problem is scheduled for production at the Cape Cod Theatre Company (MA). Her literary work has been published in The South Carolina Review, Swink, Harvard Magazine, Rain Taxi, The Kennesaw Review, and elsewhere. She received an MFA from Bennington College. She lives on Cape Cod with her wife and dog.

Alaina Messineo (she/her) is a New York City-based emerging Playwright, Poet, Lyricist, Director, and Dramaturg, originally from Rochester New York. Currently, she is a Senior at Marymount Manhattan College with a double concentration in Writing for the Stage and Directing and will be graduating in May. Her new play Water Doesn’t Kill was directed virtually by Craig Baldwin this past January. Other playwriting credits include The Royal Garden (Lucky Rat), Banana Bread Tastes Better When It’s Ripe (Obvious Child) (Quarantine Bakeoff), RIGHTS LEFT (Constitution Project) and The Wheel (Marymount Manhattan College). Tim Feeney has had two short plays published by Heuer Publishing, Believe It Or Not and A World Of Art. He is a member of the Theatre of Western Springs where he has written a few plays for new works festivals as well has performed onstage and backstage.

Germaine Shames, a Kilroys List playwright and recipient of her state’s Literary Fellowship in Fiction, is author of the award-winning novels, Between Two Deserts and You, Fascinating You. Writing under the pen name Casper Silk (Hotel Noir, Echo Year), she has been compared to F. Scott Fitzgerald, Graham Greene and P.D. James “on steroids”. ​ For the past five years, Shames has celebrated premieres in such cities as New York City, London, Chicago and Minneapolis. Her adaptation, The Lost Girl, won Starlight Theater’s 2019 Playwriting Award. Her new musicals, If the Spirit Moves and The Manifesto, premiered at Theatre Elision in 2019 and 2020 respectively​.
