About Chicago

In roaring twenties Chicago, chorine Roxie Hart murders a faithless lover and convinces her hapless husband, Amos, to take the rap...until he finds out he's been duped and turns on Roxie. Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie and another "Merry Murderess," Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines, ultimately joining forces in search of the "American Dream": fame, fortune, and acquittal.

West Warwick High School Players

West Warwick High School is highly respected throughout Rhode Island for their thriving arts programs, particularly in music.  However, by the early 2000s, the theater program was not receiving the same attention and recognition.

In 2009, a new directorial team revived the West Warwick High School Players.  Brian Hopkins and Ken Townsend brought the skills and expertise from assisting with Deering Middle Schools productions and recruited district music teachers, Rikki Bicknell Spelman, and Richard Marchetti, and a new era of musical theater at WWHS was born.

The WWHS Players pride themselves on creating professional, high-quality musical theater with relevant stories and strong social messages.  Emphasis is on each individual's contribution to the success of the production as a whole, accountability, and developing real-world skills students can transfer to a future onstage, in college, or in the workplace.
