About Lost in Yonkers

During the 1940's, Jay and Arty find their lives turned upside down when their father moves south for work, leaving them with their no-nonsense  grandmother and their loving but absent-minded spinster aunt, Bella. Along the way, they're also introduced to Uncle Louie, a small-time crook. Underlying tensions between Bella and her mother surface when Bella decides to marry her boyfriend, Johnny.

All scenes take place in the Kurnitz family apartment above the candy store in Yonkers, NY.

Thank you to our parents, administrators and SF Fine Arts staff and faculty.  Thank you to Anthony Risi, Austin Smith, Patrick Towne, James Coplin and Russ Johnson.

A HUGE thank you to our swings, Mary McGuire, Trevor Rudat and Avery OLeary.  They kept rehearsals running, entertained us and stepped in when cast members needed to miss rehearsals.  We couldn't have done the show without them!

Lost In Yonkers by Neil Simon is presented by special arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc.

From the Director:

Your presence here means the world to us.  The students have worked so hard to produce this show, and we are so glad you are here to enjoy it.  Through quarantines, virtual learning, difficult schedules and postponements, we kept "Lost in Yonkers" going because we love it and we wanted to share it with you.

The actors, creative staff, teachers and support staff have worked tirelessly to bring to the stage this beautiful story of family and forgiveness. We think it resonates as much now as it did when it was first written.

Actors rehearsed for hours in masks with hourly breaks to clear the air in our rehearsal room. The show was specifically staged with safety and health in mind.  We used minimal close-contact, minimal sharing of props, sanitized props and costumes before and after use, and we even do makeup and hair in a large room to avoid aerosol contamination.  We've stayed safe so that theatre could happen.  We hope you stay safe too.

Enjoy the show,
R
