The Tin Woman Cast

A Northern Stage Works production (Presented by Lyric Center for the Arts)
Sarah Packa (Joy)
Growing up with six siblings, I was born in the "Packa Family theater Troupe," in which much of our spare time was spent re-enacting stories and whatever we were studying in our history lessons (Vikings, various wars, pioneers, etc.) In 1B.C (Before Children) I was cast as Laura in 'The glass Menagerie" at Mesabi Community Theater directed by Matt Wall. I'm so happy to have a chance to be part of The Tin Woman to show my daughters that there's always room for play no matter what stage of life you're in.
Marlys Goerdt (Alice)
I have always loved The Arts! While attending Cherry High School, I participated in Band, Choir, Speech and Drama. In the past 30+ years I have worn many hats, playing the greatest of all roles...that of wife, mother of 9, and grandmother of 3! I am currently a preschool teaching assistant, a Volunteer in Education (VINE) coordinator, and a volunteer tutor at the Cherry School. I live in Iron, MN with my husband, two of my kids and my youngest grandbaby. Playing Alice in The Tin Woman is fulfilling my dream of performing on stage again!
Tucker Nelson (Jack)
Tucker Nelson lives in Eveleth with his parents (he apologizes to other Millennials for fulfilling the stereotype,) two cats, and a dog. He is an editorial assistant for Hometown Focus and the museum manager for the Virginia Area Historical Society. He is also the secretary for the Eveleth Heritage Society, a volunteer coach for the Eveleth-Gilbert speech team, and the emcee for the Minnesota State Old Time Fiddle Contest. Tucker's first theatrical experience was in a dramatic reading of Pecos Bill with Mrs. Rent's third grade class at Franklin Elementary. He acted in 8 plays ant E/G High and in 3 musicals at VHS, as well as a Lyric Center historic melodrama. Tucker has been involved with Mesabi Musical Theatre productions since 2010. He became the MMT Artistic Director in August 2019.
Pete Pellinen (Hank)
Pete’s performance experience is primarily on the opera stage, unless you count his work as mine interpreter at the Soudan Underground Mine State Park. These days, and for the last 20 years, Pete directs, conducts, or produces productions for Small Parts Players or Northern Stage Works, seldom getting to be on the stage. “A dramatic show like this makes comedies funnier, and musicals happier.” In scheduling a season, contrast becomes extremely important. Thanks, Madame Director, for including me in the cast.
Darby Sauer (Sammy)
I am excited to portray Sammy in Northern Stage Works production of The Tin Woman! My past NSW experience is through the radio-styled show "Ladder Under the Maple Tree," I am thrilled to have been given the opportunity to act next to and under the direction of the lovely, skilled individuals that make up "The Tin Woman."
Sarah Simek (Darla)
This is Sarah's 4th show with the Lyric and she is thrilled to be back on stage with these fantastic folks! She began acting while living in the state of Washington and fell in love with it.
Carol Zakula (Nurse)
I haven't been far from a stage since playing "The West Wind" in a 3rd Grade operetta. In recent years, Northern Stage Works dinner theaters have been a hoot, and most recently, "The Government Inspector" with Duluth Playhouse. Life keeps getting better!
