THE LANTERN THEATRE PRESENTS

A Reading of The Declaration of Independence, Poor Richard’s Almanac & More

The First of Three Holidays in The Big, Red Barn

When was the last time you read The Declaration of Independence? Or have you ever read it?

Before you cringe with the thought of your answer, please consider this opportunity to hear it read to you in a beautiful, 1905 Wisconsin-style, dairy barn, just a stone’s throw away from the Ohio & Erie Canal in scenic Valley View, Ohio.

Two summers ago, The Lantern Theatre presented a reading of The Declaration of Independence. It included songs from the 1700’s, excerpts from Benjamin Franklin’s Poor Richard’s Almanac and original scenes written by Eric Schmiedl.  At the conclusion of the program, eight actors read our founding document and then everyone sang “God Bless America.” The birthday celebration for our country and its founding was complete.

After the performance, many audience members congratulated the actors and said, “Please do this, again, next year.” And so no the reading of the Declaration has become tradition. Please join us for this family event.

The Lantern Theatre is proud to present the third annual A Reading of The Declaration of Independence, a 4th of July celebration for the whole family. Only two performances, Saturday and Sunday, June 30 and July 1, 2017,  at 2 p.m. at The Lantern Theatre in The Big, Red Barn, 10901 Tinkers Creek Road, Valley View, Ohio 44125.
