Kristy Johnson
Head Costumer
Kristy Johnson grew up sewing with her mom and dad. Yes, dad. Her dad manufactures fish nets, so at 14 she started sewing on a commercial sewing machine. She studied to be a teacher, but always loved clothes, design, being creative, and problem solving. When her daughter got involved in theatre, she wanted to volunteer and discovered she had a knack for costumes. In the last seven years, she has costumed over 40 shows at community theaters and schools. Her favorite costumed shows are the musicals “Ragtime”; “Dreamgirls”; and “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying”, the play "Fences", and the opera "Iolanthe". She spends her days helping young people get ready for employment and college and loves opportunities to work with artists of all kinds and the role costumes play in the telling of beautiful stories.
