About Coppelia in the Park

Dr. Coppelius is a dollmaker that specializes in life sized dolls. His masterpiece is a doll he named Coppelia, who he imagines is his daughter. One day, after being accosted by neighborhood boys, Dr. Coppelius decides to sit and rest in the park. His dolls follow him and the mayhem begins.

In April 2021, Covenant Ballet Theatre presented a 35-minute, abridged version of the classical, comedic ballet Coppelia. The ballet was performed on the sidewalk, in the storefront window and inside Covenant Ballet's dance studio at 251 Avenue U,  This virtual performance is a further deconstruction and mashup of our Coppelia ballet, resulting in more hilarity and fun.

This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
