About Aladdin Jr.

Disney’s Aladdin JR. is based on the 1992 Academy-Award®-winning film and the 2014 hit Broadway show about the “diamond in the rough” street rat who learns that his true worth lies deep within.

The story you know and love has been given the royal treatment! Aladdin and his three friends, Babkak, Omar, and Kassim, are down on their luck until Aladdin discovers a magic lamp and the Genie who has the power to grant three wishes. Wanting to earn the respect of the princess, Jasmine, Aladdin embarks on an adventure that will test his will and his moral character.

My name is Rebecca Long and I am so proud to be the Director of Aladdin, Jr. and this incredible cast of talented young performers. Aladdin has always been my favorite Disney movie and this version from Music Theatre International breathes "a whole new world" of excitement and characters into this beloved story. I am not alone in this production and I would not be able to bring a musical of this caliber to the stage without our District partnership with Sacramento Theatre Company and their School Partners program. The STC professional teaching artists work with the students daily in the areas of dance, singing, technical design, technical operation,  and production management. These artists provide a real world application for the skills the students develop in rehearsal and a possible career path to enhance their futures. We hope this experience gives our students a lifelong love of theatre and an initiative to preserve this magical art form.

The culmination of our set, costume, marketing and a million other pursuits is made possible through the undying support of our cast families. By the time the first performance is staged, they will have spent countless hours building, painting, sewing, and getting the word out for our show. They are the invisible strings that make the magic carpet of this show fly and we are so grateful for their talent and efforts. We can't wait for you to see this show and hope that you, too, will wish to be a part of our program-- Don't worry, that wish will always come true!
