Be careful what you wish for, as Stephen Sondheim’s and James Lapine’s cockeyed fairytale comes to life in this adaptation of their groundbreaking, Tony Award-winning musical.  Into the Woods JR. features all of your favorite characters — Cinderella (Makayla Shipe), Little Red Riding Hood (Mia Parker), Jack (Ethan Davis) (and his beanstalk) and the Witch (Lexie Ellis) — in this lyrically rich retelling of classic Brothers Grimm fables.

The musical centers on a baker (Jack Clay) and his wife (Shelby Loftis), who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse, and wind up changed forever.

After a year that ended too abruptly due to the Pandemic, Bryant Theater Company is attempting to carry on in the face of tough restrictions. The 2020 Season will be a mixture of online streaming events and live performances from the Edward Love Auditorium in Fine Arts Center. As always, our Thespian Troupe #8855 will be hard at work this season workshops, competitions, scholarships, and awards for our students.
