Chad Shipley (Alex More)
Chad is cautious to return to the stage after a one-year absence during which he produced a stage play – Scattering Scarlett – a demanding three-act piece documenting the descent of two-time Oscar winner Vivien Leigh into manic depression and madness. He has embodied a wide range of characters on stage, including John Adams in 1776, Man in Chair in The Drowsy Chaperone, Georges in La Cage, Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady, and Hank Hadley in Regrets Only. Favorite roles include Seymour in Little Shop, Che in Evita, and Count Carl-Magnus Malcolm in A Little Night Music. Like Jon, “the playwright we don’t care about,” Chad has only met her once – to discuss artwork for an album produced by Barry Gibb. (He had executed similar artistic duties on a Dionne Warwick album – Heartbreaker – also produced by Gibb.) Chad is tapping that memory in his portrayal of Barbra. In fact, it lights the corners of his mind. He dedicates this performance to the memories of Ralph Pastore and Jan Maxwell.
