The Lemonade Jamboree Part One PRESS

Original Press Release

March 5, 2021

Back in October of 2020, we began the release of our fall series called “The Lemonade Jamboree.” The Jamboree contained six “bite-size” episodes of around 20-25 minutes in length. The shows featured comedy sketches, original monologues and poems, and songs from the public domain.
We originally released the series on Vimeo, but have since partnered with a brand new ticketing company called “On the Stage,” which also offers a Video on Demand platform. For our first streaming venture (and while we work on editing the Spring Series) we wanted to revive the Fall Series as ONE complete show. This version features only one jingle at the very beginning of the show and is edited to allow one episode to flow directly into the next one. The runtime is just under two hours.
Please give us feedback to let us know if this particular operating system is easy for you to understand. We want to make this streaming process as simple and accessible to everyone as we can! We can be reached via the messaging system on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/thetheatredownstream, or through email at [email protected].
In case you missed it, below is the original press release that accompanied our announcement of the show, to give you an idea of the concept of "The Lemonade Jamboree."  Thank you so much for continuing to support the arts (however they are presented!) in Henry County.

Sincerely,
TTD Board of Directors

Original Press Release:

Hello TTD community!

We are still here! We see how much this pandemic has affected our community. We are heartbroken in the shared losses and are uplifted watching our families come together. We want to assure you that our mission is unchanged and our dedication has not faltered. Our goal is to continue to find a way to share our passion for the stage with you, especially now when respite and connections are so deeply needed.

Like so many other venues, our ability to provide you with productions has been challenged. With safety concerns for our cast, crew, and patrons along with our lack of space to house our shows, it is with an abundance of caution we must announce that our 2020-2021 season has been pushed forward and will now become our 2021-2022 season, with our first scheduled production being “ELF” during the Thanksgiving Holiday in 2021.

That being said, this is not a curtain call! Our best creative minds have been working all summer long on new ways to provide you a virtual season, starting with an online series we can’t wait for you to see, THE LEMONADE JAMBOREE. While your favorite TTD performers may have had to step off the stage for the time being…we are pleased to announce that they have simply transitioned to the screen!

We called on our TTD Alumni, the actors and directors that you have seen work together to create shows over our previous six seasons, and asked them to tell us their stories. We are proud to say that actors from our very first show ("Moon Over Buffalo") all the way through our most recent show ("Little Women") have banded together to create some incredible art.

We collected enough material for twelve 20-25 minute “internet television” shows, covering topics such as family, deep friendships, supernatural mysteries, loss, and even the pandemic itself. All material is either original and written by one of our alumni, or from the public domain.

We completed pre-production during quarantine (using zoom for virtual rehearsals and meetings) and are ready to release our first six episodes. Each episode features one sketch (either comedic or dramatic) one poem or monologue, and one song.

During filming, each day began with a temperature and symptom check for all actors and production team members present. Production team members were encouraged to wear masks, and the actors had access to hand sanitizer in between takes if contact was made from one to another. Singers were filmed with social distancing in mind. Writers were asked to create works that featured fewer than 10 characters in order to comply with mandates, and our two largest casts were filmed during the brief time we were allowed to gather in groups of 50 again. We are pleased to report that with this caution and consideration, we can report that we had ZERO instances of anyone on our production or acting team being diagnosed with COVID.

Then, next spring we will complete our Jamboree with the final six episodes in the series.  As you can see, TTD has been quiet, but not idle! We’re excited to share with you all the things we’ve been creating!

See you on the screen!
