Blackadder is a collection of historical comedies written by Rowan Atkinson, Richard Curtis, and Ben Elton. 

Beginning in 1485 and ending in 1917, each episode covers a different period in British history.  Each Blackadder is a descendant of the previous one.  And with each successive generation Blackadder becomes more clever, more opportunistic, and more blind to his surroundings. 

Topics such as witchcraft, European relations, the succession of royalty, and the Crusades are covered, although historical dates are somewhat off - not to be taken seriously!

History gets a do over with a heavy dose of humor as only the Brits can create.

Blackadder was voted the second-best British sitcom of all time, and ranked the 9th-best TV show of all time by Empire magazine.
