About A Christmas Carol

Dickens wrote A Christmas Carol at a time when the British were examining and exploring Christmas traditions.  He was influenced by his own past, and by stories of other authors.  He wrote this story following a visit to the Field Lane Ragged School, an establishment for London's half-starved, illiterate street children.

Treatment of the poor, and the ability of a self-interested codger to change into a more sympathetic character are the key themes.

Ebeneezer Scrooge doesn't like holidays, employees, or letting go of his money!  He has not a drop of human kindness.  One Christmas Eve he comes face-to-face with his past, present...and future!  Can he find compassion in his heart for his poor employee?  Is it possible to change, to give generously, and to be happy?

Come experience this classic as a patron in a radio station's audience, viewing the actors, microphones, singers, and sound effects as they make this story come alive.  If, for just a moment, you close your eyes and simply listen, you'll feel like you're there with Ebeneezer!

Since its writing in 1844, A Christmas Carol has never been out of print.  Please join us as we tell one of our most treasured holiday stories.
