About Midnight Train to Georgia

In tribute to Black History Month, St. Marys Little Theatre (SMLT) will be presenting the original musical drama “Midnight Train to Georgia” at Theatre by the Trax in downtown St. Marys.

According to the play’s writer, Gaila Brandon, “Midnight Train to Georgia” explores the dynamics in a family where broken dreams have impacted three generations.

Brandon said, “It is a modern day tale with a timeless message and that is that dreams can come true if only you have faith in yourself.”

Barbara Ryan, SMLT Chair and co-director of the play along with Ann Walsh says that as the story unfolds, audiences will witness the transformation of a young woman’s life and the celebration inspired by a family when they realize that the past does not have to determine the future.

In keeping with past performances by St. Marys Little Theatre,  Ryan said “the actors and singers will awe audiences and inspire engagement throughout the play.”

“Midnight Train to Georgia” is SMLT’S 8th annual tribute production for Black History Month and the 6th one written by Gaila Brandon.

Performances of “The Chimney” are February 15 and 16 at 7 pm and February 17 at 2 pm. Tickets should be purchased in advance at Once Upon a Bookseller in downtown St. Marys (cash or check) , or online at www.stmaryslittletheatre.com.
