Crystal Al-Mahdi ’18 (Mrs. MacAfee)
Crystal is a senior and a Goliard member. She has participated in previous Shrine productions including Seussical, Anything Goes, 12 Angry Jurors and Sound of Music. She was Mother Abess in Sound of Music. In her free time, she enjoys baking and listening to music. Crystal thanks you for coming to the play and hopes you have a lovely time.
Angela Bonello ’18 (Kim MacAfee)
Angela is a senior and cannot wait to share the stage one last time with her favorite people. She is a proud member of the Goliards, Sweet Harmony, and the A Capella group, and is serving in her second year as Choir President. You might have seen her as Maria in Sound of Music last year, and other recent show credits include Anything Goes, Big Fish, Seussical the Musical, and Les Misérables. Aside from being onstage, she loves playing piano, writing, listening to music, and spending time with friends. Angela is excited to attend Oakland University next year to study Vocal Performance and Music Education. She wants to give a huge thank-you to her family for supporting her throughout her journey, and to the cast and crew for helping put together a fantastic production. Enjoy the show!
Martina DeLeon ’18 (Rose Alvarez)
Martina is a Senior at Shrine, and you've probably seen her in every concert, musical and play here at Shrine. Most recently she was Juror #8 in Twelve Angry Jurors, Sister Sophia in Sound of Music, and now she is so overjoyed to be playing Rosie Alvarez in Bye Bye Birdie. She has loved having this first lead experience so much and she is so grateful to her directors for bringing her to the place she is now, both from the beginning of the show and since freshman year. This is such a fun show and the amazing cast has made this truly a worthwhile experience that she will never forget. Martina loves being in every music group she can—you've probably seen her running around to her many acts during concerts. She doesn’t know which college she’s going to, but she wants to study to be a performer. Martina is also part of the dance team and was part of the All-Catholic squad this year. Bridget Healey ’18 (Alice)
Bridget is a senior at Shrine where she is involved in the band and art programs. She also enjoys writing and won a silver key from Scholastic Art and Writing awards. She is also involved in the choir program at Ferndale High School on Tuesday nights. When not participating in music, you can find her at work making smoothies and making dresses, one of which was put up last year in the High School Library. Thank you for coming and enjoy the show!
Hannah Jablonski ’19 (Mrs. Mayor)
Hannah is a junior and is very excited to be participating in the musical this year. She has been in multiple Shrine shows including Seussical the Musical, Sound of Music, Anything Goes, It’s a Wonderful Life, 12 Angry Jurors and Uh Oh! Here Comes Christmas. Hannah also enjoys participating in the multiple choirs offered at Shrine including Concert Choir, Sweet Harmony and the A Capella group, Still Seeking Inspiration. Grace Kruszewski ’19 (Mrs. Merkle and Ensemble)
Grace is a junior who loves to play Shrine basketball and softball as well as sing with the Goliards. She has been in the Shrine productions of Anything Goes and Sound of Music. Grace also enjoys performing Shakespeare in the summer. Her most recent Shakespeare role was portraying Horatio in Hamlet. She wants to thank her family for their constant love and support, especially her mom whose selflessness inspires her every day.
Aidan Laidlaw ’21 (Hugo Peabody)
Aidan is a freshman at Shrine High School and this is his third production. Last year, he was Friedrich von Trapp in Sound of Music and he was in Uh-Oh, Here Comes Christmas in December. Aidan is thrilled to be cast as Hugo Peabody! He is also a Knightsmen and in Concert Choir. Enjoy Bye Bye Birdie!
Bridget LaPoint ’18 (Margie)
Bridget is a Senior at Shrine and this is her fourth high school musical.  She has previously been in Seussical, Anything Goes, and Sound of Music. In her free time, Bridget enjoys taking ballet, jazz, and musical theater classes and was captain of the Shrine Dance Team this year.  Bridget is also a Goliard at Shrine and loves to choreograph for the Goliards and Music Connection. She would like to thank her parents for being so supportive and for always pushing her to work her hardest on and off the stage. Jamie McVean ’18 (Gloria Rasputin)
Jamie is a senior this year and plans to study Accounting and Finance at the University of Dayton next fall. During her time at Shrine Jamie has run Varsity Track and was captain of the girls dance team. This is her 4th musical at Shrine, and she loves participating in Sweet Harmony and A Capella. In her spare time she loves swimming and spending time with friends.
Steven Nolasco ’18 (Albert Peterson)
Steven is a senior and typically is a ninja backstage for Shrine productions but in his final year he will be on the stage. Steven is a Goliard and a Knightsmen director. Next year Steven plans on attending Loyola University. He thanks you for attending the musical and hopes you enjoy the show!
Elroi Ordinario ’21 (Randolph MacAfee)
Elroi is a freshman at Shrine Catholic High School. He enjoys music, including singing, dancing, and rapping. During his free time, he likes to play video games and basketball. Elroi hopes that you enjoy the show!
Alana Ramirez ’18 (Ursula Merkle)
Aly is a senior and a member of Goliards and the Shrine Dance team. She is also one of the directors of Sweet Harmony. Aly has performed in Shrine productions since being an Academy student. In her free time she likes to dance, sing and paint. Next year Aly plans to attend the University of Detroit Mercy to study Architecture and Design. She would like to thank her family for always supporting her and the wonderful directors that have made this show possible!
Vito Samayoa ’18 (Conrad Birdie)
Vittorio transferred to Shrine High School sophomore year and is now a senior. He is in Goliards and has helped with Shrine’s performing arts camps. Vittorio played Captain von Trapp in last year’s production of Sound of Music and is even more excited to play the part of Conrad Birdie. Vito wants to thank his family, the staff, the cast, and everyone else who took time out of their day to make this performance happen. Vittorio is being “Honestly Sincere” when he says it’s going to be a good show.
Alex Sobeck ’18 (Mr. MacAfee)
Alex is a senior and a member of Goliards and Knightsmen. This is Alex’s second Shrine production, his first being the play Uh Oh Here Comes Christmas. Alex plans on attending the University of Michigan in the fall, where hopes to continue singing with the Men’s Glee Club. He would like to thank his parents for their support. Nealie Tinlin ’18 (Mrs. Mae Peterson)
Nealie is a senior and is so excited to be in Bye Bye Birdie, her fourth and final musical at Shrine. She loves to perform, especially with the Goliards, and hopes to pursue a career in acting next year at college. She is so thankful for all the people here at Shrine who have supported her over the past four years. She sends special love to her family and friends. Enjoy the show!
Jacob Whitmore ’18 (Charles F. Maude)
Jacob is a senior and this is his second musical. Last year he portrayed Rolf in Sound of Music. Jacob is a member of Knightsmen, Goliards, the Shrine Varsity football team and captain of the Shrine Baseball team. Next year, Jacob will attend the Franciscan University of Steubenville to study business. He would like to thank his parents for all the love and support over his four years of high school. Derek Youngert ’18 (Mr. Mayor)
Derek is a senior and this is his second musical, first appearing the Sound of Music. Derek is a Gamer’s Club board member and Senior SLEC Vice-President. Derek is also an Eagle Scout and has been participating in scouting for 11 years. He plans on attending Lawrence Technological University in the fall and hopes you enjoy the show.
Katy Zink (Deborah Sue)
Katy is a junior and a member of the Goliards along with the Varsity tennis team. She appeared last year as Liesl in Sound of Music. Katy enjoys Netflix and hanging out with her friends in her free time. She hopes you enjoy the show!
Tia Aziz '19 (Nancy)
Tia is a junior and a member of the Goliards and Sweet Harmony. She has been doing musicals and singing since she was 6 years old. Some previous shows that she has been involved in are Beauty and the Beast, Willy Wonka Jr., and Sound of Music. In her free time, she likes to go swimming, have adventures with her friends, and sing. She thanks you for coming to the show and hopes you enjoy the performance!
Cian Dotson ’20 (Harvey Johnson)
Cian is a sophomore and enjoys singing in Shrine Knightsmen and Concert Choir. Some of the Shrine productions he has participated in include Dorothy in Wonderland and Keeper of the Tales. Along with performing, he also enjoys playing soccer and running track. Cian is very happy you came to watch this performance of Bye Bye Birdie!
Tamara Aziz ’21 (Ensemble)
Tamara is a freshman and is a member of Shrine’s Sweet Harmony. She has participated in WAMS productions such as Beauty and the Beast Jr., Willy Wonka Jr., Honk Jr., and Shrek Jr. In her free time, she loves to sing and hang out with her family and friends. Elisabeth Bala ’19 (Ensemble)
Libby is a junior at Shrine and this is her second time performing on the Saunders Auditorium stage. When she isn't at rehearsal, she also plays on the varsity volleyball team, sings in Concert Choir, is a member of the yearbook staff, and enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Payton Bero ’20 (Ensemble)
Payton is a Sophomore at Shrine, and is a member of the Shrine football and baseball teams.  He also participates in Drumline, Knightsmen and Concert Choir.  Last year he was in the orchestra for the Sound of Music, and this year he is an ensemble member of the Bye Bye Birdie cast.  Thank you to all the adults who helped with the preparation of this show.  Payton hopes you enjoy the performance.

Margaret is a junior and a member of Concert Choir at Shrine. She participated in last year’s production Sound of Music. Jazmin Brown ’21 (Ensemble)
Jazmin enjoys being a part of the ensemble in the musical because of her love for singing and her friends. She played “Beth” a lead role in her eighth grade musical, The Understudies. She has been in the ensemble in a couple musicals put on by her local theatre., and has participated in many choirs. Jazmin is so excited to participate in more musicals at Shrine.
Fiona Brueckman ’19 (Ensemble)

Carter Buchanan ’21 (Ensemble)
Carter is a freshman and has gone to Shrine Schools since pre-school. He was previously in High School Musical as part of the ensemble. Off the stage, Carter enjoys playing lacrosse and soccer for Shrine. Carter would like to thank his amazing older sister, Catrina, for driving him to practices and rehearsals, and bringing him food when he has to stay at school.
Catrina Buchanan ’19 (Teen and Ensemble)
Catrina is a junior and has been involved in plays since she was 8 years old. At Shrine, Catrina was in Seussical, Anything Goes and Sound of Music. Catrina is a member of the Goliards, Shrine Dance team and the Varsity Tennis team. She enjoys watching Netflix and crocheting in her free time. Being a dancer, Catrina is excited about the large dance numbers in the show and hopes you enjoy them, too.
Grace Cancro ’21 (Ensemble)
Grace is a freshman, and this is her second production at Shrine. She also participated in the fall drama Uh Oh, Here Comes Christmas. She has done community theater since 5th grade, participating in Willy Wonka Jr., The Little Mermaid Jr., and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Aside from theater, Grace also participates in the Chamber String Ensemble and Knights Chorus at Shrine. She thanks you for coming to see this production and hopes you enjoy the show.

Claire is so excited to be participating in her first Shrine High School production. When not onstage, you can find Claire out on the softball diamond or on the volleyball court. Sophia Cloutier ’19 (Ensemble)
Sophia is a Junior at Shrine High School. She plays varsity volleyball and will be playing varsity golf this upcoming fall season. Sophia’s hobbies include hanging out with friends and family, traveling, and watching her favorite shows on Netflix. This is Sophia’s second musical, her first one being Sound of Music from last spring. Sophia thanks you for coming and hopes you enjoy the show!
Julianna Coffin ’21 (Ensemble)
Julianna is a freshman and this is the first time she is on the Shrine stage. She participates on the Shrine Dance team. Julianna was part of the ensemble of Beauty and the Beast and played Mrs. Darling in Peter Pan. She is enjoying her experience here at Shrine and is looking forward to her next three years in high school.
Hannah Coleman ’20 (Ensemble)
Hannah is a sophomore and she is so excited to be in her first high school production! She was in Keeper of the Tales in 8th grade and she loved coming back to the stage this year. When off stage, Hannah plays volleyball and is part of the dance team. She loved seeing how much the cast grew together as a family since the beginning of the show, and she would like to thank her mom and grandma for everything they’ve given her. Enjoy the show!

Luisa is a freshman at Shrine. This is her first high school production, but she has performed previously in the eighth grade musical The Understudies and play, Axe of Murder.
Joelle Denhof ’20 (Ensemble)
Joelle is a sophomore in high school. She is extremely excited to participate in Bye Bye Birdie. Joelle loves the performing arts including the school dance team, choirs, and film acting as well as theater. Other than performing, she also enjoys being on the school volleyball team. Dennis, a freshman, is very excited to join the ensemble of Bye Bye Birdie. At Shrine he enjoys participating in Knightsmen, Drumline and last year was in the Academy play The Understudies. Dennis loves to read in his spare time. He would like to thank all the people who worked on this play. He is amazed how it all comes together. Sarah is a junior and participates in Sweet Harmony and the A Capella choir. She enjoys playing Varsity softball and participating in the Model UN Club. Kate is a sophomore and is so excited to be a part of Bye Bye Birdie! Besides the spring musical, Kate has been in Shrine’s 12 Angry Jurors, The Sound of Music and Dream Arts production of Les’ Misérables. She is also a part of Shrine’s Varsity Dance team, the A Capella group and the Alaina Brown Voice Studio. Recently, Kate also participated is MSVMA’s State Honors Choir in Grand Rapids, MI. Katherine Mutschler ’21 (Ensemble)
What’s the word, hummingbird?  Katherine is making her high school musical debut as a freshman in Shrine’s production of Bye, Bye, Birdie.  She has plenty of Shrine Academy shows under her belt, and she was recently dancing the Hora in Uh-Oh, Here Comes Christmas! back in December.  She is very busy all around Shrine High, running track, rocking out in three different choirs, writing for the school newspaper, and performing in the varsity dance team.  When she’s got a free minute, Katherine loves writing poems and stories, going on adventures with her sister, and spending time in her backyard.
Margaret Piazzon ’20 (Ensemble)
Maggie is a sophomore and a member of Concert Choir, Sweet Harmony and Still Seeking Inspiration (the Shrine a capella group). Last year Maggie performed in Sound of Music and 12 Angry Jurors. Maggie likes to sing in a variety of programs. This summer, she will be traveling through Europe with an International Choral Ensemble. Jeffrey Robinson ’20 (Ensemble)
Jeffrey is a sophomore and has been in three other musicals, including Fame Jr., Seussical and Sound of Music. In his free time Jeffrey likes to sing, play instruments and draw. Jeffrey is thinking about attending art school in the future but has plenty of time to figure that out. He would like to thank Mrs. Sawyer, Mrs. Malloy and Terri for helping him to continue in the musical. Jeffrey would also like to thank his parents and his brother Billy for all their support. Regan is so excited to be in her first high school production! When not on the stage, you can find Regan on the soccer field or basketball court. Olivia Schenkel ’18 (Ensemble)
Olivia is a senior and this is her first musical at Shrine High School. She was in both the musical and play during eighth grade, and in the plays at Shrine High School. She was happy to have this experience! In her free time, she enjoys playing volleyball, softball, and dancing alone in her room. She’s become so much closer with the cast and is so happy for that!! Gina is a sophomore and a member of Shrine’s Concert Choir and Sweet Harmony. She was in last year’s musical, Sound of Music. Gina also participates in Shrine volleyball, soccer and basketball in her free time.
Audrey Schulz ’21 (Ensemble)
Audrey is a freshman and it is her first year at Shrine. She is in the Knights Chorus, Sweet Harmony, and on the Dance Team. This is her second Shrine production, the first being this year's fall drama, Uh-Oh, Here Comes Christmas. Audrey has been a Girl Scout for ten years and is part of a 4-H group where she shows a mini horse named Cinnamon.
Kennedy Sowell ’20 (Ensemble)
Kennedy is excited to be a part of her first Shrine musical! When not on stage, she can be found on the softball diamond or volleyball court. She hopes you enjoy the show!
Gloria Thompson ’21 (Ensemble)
Gloria is a freshman who recently made MSVMA State Honors Choir. She has performed in many solo vocal and musical performances, performed with Show Choir, the musical Newsies and was a member of The Royal Oak Children's Choir.  This is her first ensemble performance. She enjoys swimming and competed in the MICSA at Red Run Golf and Country Club. She enjoys kayaking on Lake Huron, plays the ukulele and the bass guitar. Her hobbies include drawing, jewelry making and crafting. She adores her two cats and three dogs and all her lovely friends.
