About Into the Woods

The cow as white as milk, the cape as red as blood, the hair as yellow as corn, and the slipper as pure as gold. It's these four items that send a baker and his barren wife through the woods on a magical journey to reverse an evil spell. They wish for a child and are sent by an evil witch on a wild scavenger hunt. Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel, and Cinderella soon join the mix on this magical tale of love and adventure!

Considered one of the greatest musicals ever written, Into the Woods has surprised and delighted audiences for more than 30 years.

Placer High School

Placer High School’s origins can be traced back to 1882, when three young men from the East Coast arrived in Auburn with a dream of creating a
college for Northern California. In 1897, Professor DeBell and the City of Auburn leased the Sierra College building and property and ran the school under the name of Auburn High School with 17 students. In 1903, Placer county purchased the land from Sierra College, making the high school official. Our theater program started in earnest in 1965, with a production of Finian's Rainbow. Since then, a multitude of fall plays and spring musicals have graced our stage. Recent musical hits have been Spamalot and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.
