Detailing what is arguably the most infamous assassination in history, Julius Caesar is a tale of conspiracy, murder, betrayal, civic duty, and morality, and the power of words to shift the balance of power. The conspirators assassinate Caesar to prevent his dictatorial rise to power, but then must contend with swaying public opinion to their favor. In the subsequent power vacuum, who amongst them are fit to lead? Who are the real heroes and villains of the story? Julius Caesar is best known for its eloquent oratory, including the famous "Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears" speech. We're excited to introduce Shakespeare to OLT audiences through this staged reading. 

Old Library Theatre (OLT), Fair Lawn Recreation Department’s resident theatre company, is a community theatre organization, located in Bergen County, NJ, committed to producing quality productions at an affordable price. Old Library Theatre was started in 1967 in Fair Lawn by a handful of dreamers who wanted to make the joy of theatre performance available to everyone. The original theatre was on River Road, and several years ago moved to the George Frey Center for Performing Arts in the Fair Lawn Community Center. Our mission is to provide quality entertainment in Bergen County, showcasing talented performers of all ages, shapes, sizes, ethnicities, and stages of development.
