About Casa Valentina

Nestled in the Catskills — 1962’s land of dirty dancing and Borscht Belt comedy — an inconspicuous bungalow colony catered to a very special clientele: heterosexual men who delighted in dressing and acting as women. These white-collar professionals would discreetly escape their families to spend their weekends safely inhabiting their chosen female alter-egos. But given the opportunity to share their secret lives with the world, the members of this sorority have to decide whether the freedom gained by openness is worth the risk of personal ruin.

Written by Harvey Fierstein, the play was nominated for four 2014 Tony Awards, including Best Play.

About The Company

Old Library Theatre (OLT), Fair Lawn Recreation Department’s resident theatre company, is a community theatre organization, located in Bergen County, NJ, committed to producing quality productions at an affordable price. Old Library Theatre was started in 1967 in Fair Lawn by a handful of dreamers who wanted to make the joy of theatre performance available to everyone. The original theatre was on River Road, and several years ago moved to the George Frey Center for Performing Arts—a 170-seat theater—in the Fair Lawn Community Center. Our mission is to provide quality entertainment in Bergen County, showcasing talented performers of all ages, shapes, sizes, ethnicities, and stages of development. Now in our 51st season, we continue the tradition of quality community entertainment. We are a member organization of the New Jersey Association of Community Theaters and its current Community Theater of the Year for 2017.
