From the first notes to the final breath, West Side Story is one of the most memorable musicals and greatest love stories of all time. Arthur Laurents' book remains as powerful, poignant and timely as ever. The score by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim are widely regarded as among the best ever written. The world's greatest love story takes to the streets in this landmark Broadway musical that is one of the theatre's finest accomplishments.

Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet is transported to modern-day New York City as two young, idealistic lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the "American" Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks. Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice is one of the most innovative, heart-wrenching and relevant musical dramas of our time.

Northridge HIgh School has an award winning theatre department, and is known for Excellent quality productions with both high production values, and extremely talented Students.  NHS Theatre has won the  best Choreography award at the Utah High School Musical Theatre awards for the last two years running for Anything Goes (2017)  and Newsies (2018).   Previous UHSMTA awards include Best Musical- Wedding SInger (2015) Best Costumes - Wedding singer (2015) Best Tech Crew - Scarlet Pimpernel (2014), and has sent two lead actors to the Jimmy Awards in NYC - Jordan Kirkham- Wedding SInger and Matthew Richards- Scarlet Pimpernel-  in NYC. 

  Jana Coates is our theatre director,  Jemay Marden is our Music Director, and Jared Harding is our Pit Director when we have a live pit.  We have been nominated for best pit orchestra every year for the last 6 years, and also nominated for best musical for the last 6 years.  We work hard to provide a quality theatrical experience for our community.   Please come join us to share a common experience without your cell phone!
