About Our Town
The Gibbs and the Webbs are living in the fictitious town of Grover's Corners, New Hampshire at the turn of the 20th century. From the characters, to the diction, to the props, and to the set design, Wilder simplifies everything. He uses typical country vernacular and has the 'Stage Manager' speaking directly to the audience to tell the story of these two common families. The story follows these small town characters through three acts: 'Daily Life,' 'Love and Marriage,' and 'Death and Eternity.
