Kenneth Zagare
Mr. Zagare has been a part of the Malverne team since 2006. He teaches Mixed Chorus, Concert Choir, Select Choir and AP Music Theory. He has his B.M. in Music Education from The Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, and his M.A. from SUNY Stony Brook. At Malverne, he has musically directed Grease and co-directed Leader of the Pack, Wedding Singer, Fiddler on the Roof, Seussical, Beauty and the Beast, In the Heights, The Drowsy Chaperone, Shrek, West Side Story, Legally Blonde, Young Frankenstein and most recently The Little Mermaid. In addition, he was the chairperson for the 2012 NMEA Division 5 All-County Women’s Chorus and the 2013 NMEA Division 5 Mixed Chorus.. Mr. Zagare is a NYSSMA voice adjudicator and also accompanies many soloists and choirs around Long Island. He is also the pianist for the Metropolitan Youth Symphonic Choir, which performs all around the metropolitan area, including Carnegie Hall. Leigh Anne Muscarella
Leigh Anne had so much fun in her fifth year working with the incredible students at Malverne. Before she was on the backstage end of theatrical productions, she had been seen on stage in roles such as Ilse in Spring Awakening, Carrie Pipperidge in Carousel, Mary in Jesus Christ Superstar, Daniela in In the Heights, and Milky White in Into the Woods. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Music Industry with a minor in Dance from SUNY Oneonta. This show has been such an amazing experience, getting to work with a cast that can adapt to whatever is thrown at them with maturity and grace was such an honor. Please enjoy the show and to the cast... "there's nothing you can't do, so let that positoovity work for you!"

Michael Messina
Mr. Messina is currently the District Chairperson of Music, Fine Arts, Instructional Technology and Family & Consumer Science, and has called Malverne home for the last 23 years.  He is a graduate of Manhattanville College, where he received a Bachelor of Music and a Master’s Degree in Music Education.  After several years of teaching, he completed his School District Administrator certification at C.W. Post University. Throughout his career, Mr. Messina has conducted and performed in several musicals and enjoys bringing the magic of theatre to the students here at Malverne.

Glen Johnson
Mr. Johnson is currently the director of bands at Malverne High School and director for the “Pride of Malverne Marching Band.” He received his undergraduate degree at the State University of New York at Fredonia in music education in 2008 with a concentration in French Horn and his graduate degree in music education from Hofstra University in New York in 2011. Along with his position as director of bands at Malverne High School, he has also been a guest speaker at local colleges as an advocate for music education and has been invited to guest conduct local music festivals. Mr. Johnson is excited to be completing his fifth year as Pit Orchestra Conductor for Malverne High School’s Musical.

Lighting Designer
David Coonan '99
Mr. Coonan became a member of the H.T.H. faculty in 2017, where he teaches English and theater. Most recently, he was the director of the The Wizard of Oz, the first ever H.T.H. musical production, as well as its lighting designer. He was also the lighting designer for last year’s M.H.S. production of Young Frankenstein and has lit many concerts and events that have taken place in the auditorium. He runs the H.T.H. Drama Club, summer theatre camp, and teaches theatre arts, acting, and playwriting and production. He has been active in theatre as a director, producer, teacher, and creator ever since his first M.H.S. production 23 years ago.

Rachel Trevor
Ms. Trevor currently teaches 6th, 7th and 8th Grade Chorus, Select Choir and violin at Howard T. Herber Middle School. Outside of the Music Department, she coaches Middle School Spring Track and Cheerleading. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, and her Master’s Degree in Arts Administration from Florida State University. As a student, she participated in her high school musicals, including Fiddler on the Roof, Anything Goes, State Fair, and The Music Man. At Malverne, she has co-directed Fiddler on the Roof, Seussical the Musical, Beauty and the Beast, In the Heights, The Drowsy Chaperone, Shrek the Musical, West Side Story and Legally Blonde.  Ms. Trevor is excited to be taking on a new role in the musical with such talented students.
Props Mistress
Sarah St. John '11
Sarah is so excited to be a part of the Malverne Musical staff as Props Mistress again this year, especially because Ariel is her favorite Disney princess! She is a Malverne alumni and was a part of Malverne's cast and crew every year in high school. Currently, Sarah is an art teacher and loves sharing her creativity in the props department. She thanks Aimee for all her hard work being a part of the prop crew! Enjoy the show - right on stage crew!

Alyssa Sitler
Mrs. Sitler is the Band Director at Howard T. Herber Middle School, where she directs the 6th, 7th and 8th Grade Band, and the Jazz Ensemble. She is also the Assistant Director for the Pride of Malverne Marching Band. Mrs. Sitler received her Bachelor's Degree from Hofstra University and her Master's Degree from Queens College. She has performed in several musicals, including Oliver, The Music Man, The King and I, Seussical the Musical, Into the Woods, The Wizard of Oz, West Side Story, Annie, and Shrek the Musical. She was also the Music Director and Choreographer for the inaugural Howard T. Herber Middle School Musical, The Wizard of Oz. Mrs. Sitler is passionate about sharing her love of music and the arts with the Malverne community.

Greg Monahan '03
Greg Monahan graduated from MHS and then went to Adelphi University to earn a BFA in Theatre Design Technology. He has returned to the Malverne Stage each year to help students learn about design, carpentry, lighting, sound and many other aspects of putting on an incredible show.  As Technical Director, Greg enjoys collaborating with students and faculty who share a common passion for theatre.  He would like to thank John Motchkavitz for getting him started with the school play, the alumni who return every spring to help, and everybody else he has had the pleasure of working with over the past 20 years.
