About The Virtual Family

From the Publisher:

Meet the Virtuals — Dad, Mom, Son, Daughter, Grandma, plus a cat named Kitten and a kitten named Cat.  Part Griswalds, part Jetsons, they’re just an ordinary family living in extraordinary times.  A slew of technological advances, electronic home assistants, and computerized appliances, including Bob-B the vacuum and FAB, the Fitness Assistant Bot, are meant to make life easier and bring the Virtuals together, but somehow they wind up more disconnected than before!  Maybe technological advances aren’t all they’re cracked up to be?

Just watching Dad “interview” toothbrushes online leaves one to wonder if the Virtual family can survive the challenges of the real world.  Good thing he has all his Dad jokes to guide him, even if nobody else finds them funny!  This family already only communicates digitally, always in different rooms of their house.

But will a strange robot virus lead to self-imposed social distancing?  Find out as you watch our production of The Virtual Family!

Hollis Brookline Middle School Drama Club

Teaching drama club for over 30 years has lead me to work with some wonderful students.  The talent of these young actors impresses me all the time.  They meet every challenge and exceed my expectations for the final productions.  It takes a strong sense of self to be able to perform in front of an audience-especially an audience of their peers at this age.  I am so proud of their accomplishments.

This year has been exciting, demanding and positive in all aspects.  I am so happy to be working with these ten actors who chose to move forward and keep their acting craft alive.  We have learned so much during this virtual process-I would not change anything!  We are better listeners, better organizers and better people for having this time to work together.

I think the virtual production world has a place in our school right now and in the future.
