About Godspell Jr

Godspell Jr is a delightful retelling of several parables from the Bible. These are stories that are fairly universally familiar and not particularly religious. The music is beautiful with a popular rock feel to it. "Day by Day", from the original cast album, reached #13 on the Billboard pop singles chart in the summer of 1972. This is a show for everyone and all ages.

Godspell is a musical composed by Stephen Schwartz with the book by John-Michael Tebelak. Schwartz also wrote such hit musicals as Pippin (1972) and Wicked (2003).

WHY MULTIPLE PRODUCTIONS: Due to the pandemic, we have chosen a show with a small cast and crew. This allows us to keep distance among students on stage and backstage. To continue to offer opportunities to the large number of students in our performing arts programs we are producing 3 versions of the show with 3 different casts in 3 consecutive months, September, October and November. The September edition will feature performers exclusively from our senior class. The October and November productions will have casts of juniors, sophomores & freshmen. Though all productions are of the same script and music, the actor interpretations, choreography, costumes & lighting will all be different. Patrons attending the shows in each month will see very different productions.
