A Bastardized Retelling of the Oldest Recorded and Incomplete Play Originally Entitled “The Suppliant Women” by Aeschylus

Inspired by the Danaïdes of Greek mythology, fifty brides flee their home in New York City to avoid marrying their fifty cousins and end up in Greece, where both parties collide upon the arrival at a stranger’s villa. While the brides and grooms debate the logistics of their wedding day, the characters raise issues about gender, immigration, war, and love as both sides fight for their right to choose.
