Godspell was the first major musical theatre offering from three-time Grammy and Academy Award winner, Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Children of Eden), and it took the world by storm. Based on the Gospel according to Matthew, the show features a comedic troupe of eccentric players who team up with Jesus to teach his lessons in a new age through a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques and hefty doses of comic timing.
The ConVal High School Drama department is co-produced by Elizabeth Moore and Liz Halper. Each season features a musical, a play, a student-directed festival, student-directed play and an entry into the New Hampshire Educational Theatre Festival. Both ConVal High School faculty and community members direct a series of productions and workshops throughout the season. Student leaders in the International Thespian Society #7883 support the season through student-led crews and other theatrical events and activities.
The department also supports the efforts of the Contoocook Visual and Performing Arts Center. More information on their mission is available at http://convalvpac.org/.
