About Zorro: The Radio Play

The title of the November show this year at CHS is "Zorro: The Radio Play". The students will be performing a live radio play version of 'The Mark of Zorro' -- the kind of thing that was done back in the day by groups such as Lux Radio or the Mercury Theatre. Before the invention of television came about, radio dramas provided entertainment for the folks listening at home ,as well as the studio audience watching the live performance. The play takes place in the early 1940's, and the actors (as well as the students in charge of the various sound effects) will be right there on stage for the audience to see, as in the past. We will be presenting a play within a play since the radio play takes place in the 40's, while the 'Mark of Zorro' takes place in the early 1800's, when California belonged to Spain.

Clifton BOE

It is our belief that educating the whole person should include an understanding and appreciation of the arts. With this in mind, the Clifton High School Visual & Performing Arts Department is proud to participate in the fostering of such an ideal. Research shows that many students who participate in the fine and performing arts invariably do well in their overall academic studies and in careers later in life. This has led us to design and proudly provide a rich variety of visual and performing arts experiences for ninth through twelfth grade students.

CHS offers a broad range of arts classes including (but not limited to) Ceramics, Digital Photography, AP Studio Art, Dance, Drama, Band, Orchestra, Piano, Chorus and Film/Television Production. We also offer dozens of incredible extra-curricular arts clubs, where students can extend and enrich their learning after school. Whether it’s participating in the musical, creating murals, or learning new dance choreography, there’s something for everyone at CHS who's interested in the visual & performing arts.
