About Much Ado About Nothing

The students of the St. Messina High School have just returned from their victory in an Academic Decathlon competition. Romance is in the air, as Claudio, a key member of the team, falls in love with Hero. Opposite their budding relationship are Benedick and Beatrice, two hot-headed, wordplay-loving, insult-hurling students whose sworn hatred for each other can only be thwarted by their friends' determination to get them to fall in love. All seems well, until the disgruntled Donna John convinces Claudio that Hero is cheating on him!

Our Season

Catamount Actors' Theatre (www.chscat.com) is a quality theater company at Christopher High School in Gilroy, CA. For the past several years, we have produced countless high-quality plays and musicals under the direction of Dr. Kate Booth (MFA in Theatre Education, Ph.D. in Theatre History, Literature, and Performance Criticism).

During the 2015-2016 season, CAT produced several fantastic play and productions, including our yearly Talent Show. The CHS Advanced Drama class performed Arthur Miller's The Crucible, which every CHS student attended in his or her English class. We also produced our first annual senior project (Project X) - directed by Dalila Gonzalez, a murder mystery set in the red rock city of Petra, Agatha Christie's Appointment with Death. We also staged an excellent performance of the classic musical The Music Man in collaboration Christopher HS Choir, Band, and Dance programs.

This season, CAT has already produced an interactive asylum-themed theatre experience and, other than Much Ado, is currently rehearsing The Visit by Friedrich Durrenmatt, which is this year's Project X, directed by CAT Executive Producer Jacob Yoder-Schrock.
