About Strings in the Spring

Violinist Vivek Jayaraman joins pianist Franz Mantini in the 2021 edition of Strings in the Spring at the Carrollwood Cultural Center. The eclectic program begins with the musicians collaborating in Mozart’s Sonata in B-Flat Major, K. 378, and followed by each taking a solo turn on their respective instruments; Mr. Mantini playing a Nocturne and Etude by Frederic Chopin and Mr. Jayaraman performing Ysaye’s Sonata #4. They will then finish together in the Suite for Violin and Piano by William Grant Still. Long known as   the "Dean of African-American Classical Composers", Still’s suite takes the listener on a journey with the outer movements’ inimitable rhythms, blues, and jazzy discourse framed around the serene middle movement reminiscent of a lullaby.

Carrollwood Cultural Center

At the Carrollwood Cultural Center, magic is around every corner. Music fills the air, colors dress the walls, dancers float on stage and drama evokes emotion. The Center has been honored to host an array of local talents from visual artists, instrumentalists, singers, dancers and theatre groups. We look forward to introducing more area talent through future performances and concerts. Who knows? Perhaps our next headliner will be you!
