Musical Director & KeyboardistDr. Jerri Lamar Kantack
DR. JERRI LAMAR KANTACK (Musical Director) is in her 16th year as Associate Professor of Music at Blue Mountain College. She received the BM and MM degrees in music from The University of Mississippi and the DMA in Vocal Performance from The University of Alabama. Dr. Kantack teaches Applied Voice, Music History, Music Literature and other courses and was Director of the BMC Chorale for eight years. She has taught at Huntingdon College, Stillman College and Shelton State Community College and Brenau University. She has been musical director for the following musicals at BMC: Into the Woods, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, The Sound of Music, Forever Plaid, Annie, Seussical: The Musical, Leader of the Pack, The Taffetas, Little Women, the Musical, and the opera Amahl and the Night Visitors.
Christi Mitchell (Director) is the Assistant Professor of Speech and Theatre at Blue Mountain College. Last year she directed Amahl and the Night Visitors and John, His Story at Blue Mountain College. She is also the director of BMC’s Drama Team, IMPACT, which will touring their latest production this spring. Born and raised in Wyoming, she earned her BFA with honors in Drama from the University of Montana-Missoula and her Master of Fine Arts in Acting from Wayne State University’s Hillberry Repertory Theatre program in Detroit, Michigan. Christi has traveled and lived in various places, and while she lived in Los Angeles, California, she wrote and performed one-woman shows, acted in professional plays and appeared in films, earning her Screen Actors Guild card. She has one vivacious three-year old daughter, Vivian, and she thanks her wonderful husband, Josh, for all of his support. She gives the Good Lord all the credit for the blessings in her life.
Sound & LightsRebecca Spencer
Becca is a Senior, majoring in Music Education and Biology. She is the President of Alpha Psi Omega, the Delegate of Alpha Chi, and the Vice President of the Euzelian Society. Previous roles: The Leader of the Pack (Assistant Stage Manager), The Taffetas (Assistant Stage Manager and Assistant Prop Master), Little Women (Assistant Stage Manager), Arsenic and Old Lace (Assistant Stage Manager), Amahl and the Night Visitors (Stage Manager), One Act The Trifles (Mrs. Peters), and One Act Steel Magnolias (Annelle). Also, Becca has worked backstage, lights, and sound for many senior projects, recitals, and showcases.
Sharissa SmithStage Manager
Sharissa Smith is a 21 year old sophomore at Blue Mountain College. She is from Oregon and is majoring in Fine Arts. Sharissa was the set and props designer for the play last semester John, His Story. She has also acted in several smaller student run plays but this is her second professional production.
Set Designers/Costumes and PropsDonna and Blake McGaughy
Donna, originally a Wisconsin native, moved to Cleveland, Ms in 2000. Blake is a native of Ashland, Ms. While in Cleveland Donna & Blake were active in the Cleveland Community Theater assisting in various productions with costuming, props, and set construction. Blake is a former President of the Cleveland Community Theater Board. Donna also worked with costumes backstage at the Bologna Performing Arts Center for traveling productions that included “Cats” and “Singing in the Rain”. They were both active with the Delta Arts Alliance in Cleveland where Blake served as Treasurer. Since moving to Ripley in 2011, Donna has been a board member for the Ripley Arts Council and has worked with costumes, props, and sets for several productions at the Dixie Theater. Blake, currently a board member for the Ripley Arts Council, also has worked with set construction for several productions. Most recently Donna & Blake worked with set construction for the BMC production of “Amahl and the Night
Aislyn PoundsCostume Assistant
Aislyn’s hometown is Saltillo, Mississippi. She is a freshman at Blue Mountain College pursuing her worship leadership major. She has been in two school productions including A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Norah’s Ark, and several church productions. “I would like to thank my mom for encouraging me to strive for excellence in everything I do, and I would like to thank BMC for giving me the best opportunities to thrive in my education and in Christ.”
Costume DesignerRenee Reid
Renee Reid developed a love for costuming while working on children's choir and community theater projects. She has been costuming for more than twelve years. She has served as the Costume Mistress for The Civic Ballet Company for the last four years and is currently assisting with costuming for the New Albany High School musical. She says wherever her kids are involved, she's proud to be serving in the background. Renee is married to Bill Reid of New Albany, has two children, Parker and Emma, and is the Director of Public Relations for Methodist Senior Services.
