Rock Of Ages is Mark’s debut as music director at the Alban. He is actively involved in the Kanawha Valley with a number of community theatre groups, most recently, The Contemporary Youth Arts Company (CYAC), George Washington High School Theatre Of The Nevertheless and JADCO Dance Company. These organizations have afforded him the opportunity to compose the music for a number of musicals, ballets and operas, most notably, in collaboration with playwright, Dan Kehde, they have penned together: Mary, Norman Rockwell’s American Paradise, Mercy, Dachau, the international award winning, Jack The Ripper and the opera Lincoln. He is also in collaboration with Daniel Boyd adapting “Space Preachers” for the musical stage. Grant Edward Jacobs
Assistant Musical Director
In 2019 Grant concluded a five year touring stint with WV-based rock band The Company Stores, in order to focus on his teaching career and opportunities to be more involved in local Charleston music. He is in his ninth year teaching, his fourth year teaching at Mary C. Snow West Side Elementary, where he currently serves as a Title 1 Math Interventionist. Grant holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and Jazz Studies from the University of Louisville, and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education with a focus in education policy from West Virginia University. In 2020, Grant hopes for more opportunities to work within the musical theatre community, begin promoting his new local music production collaborative, and record his first solo album of original songs. None of this would have been possible without the support of his friends, family, and school community. A special thanks to Mark Scarpelli for his encouragement to keep trying new musical endeavors… LET’S ROCK Y’ALL!

Rock of Ages is produced with special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
